Rental agreement between renter and owner

A rental agreement is established, at the moment the owner accepts an application and the renter pays the price of the rent

The rental agreement

Before the start of the rental period, the owner should print the rental agreement. When collecting and returning the motorbike, both parties must sign this document. After signing, the owner can hand over the keys to the motorbike. The owner always keeps the signed rental agreement. This is important in case of emergencies.

Rental agreement between owner and renter

Renters can send multiple rental requests without obligation, with a maximum of three. An owner must then indicate within 24 hours whether he/she accepts the request. If a rental request is accepted, the tenant has 36 hours to pay the rent. A rental agreement is formed, the moment the owner accepts an application and the tenant pays the price of the rent. A completed rental agreement then automatically becomes available in the owner and tenant's personal dashboard. A rental agreement consists of two parts:

  • The details of the rental agreement
  • A motor transfer form

A renter can cancel the rental agreement up to 72 hours before the start of the rental period. If cancelled in time, Motoshare will return the rental fee by giving a voucher with rental credit. The voucher is valid for one year and can be used by the renter to conclude a new rental agreement. The owner can cancel the rental until the moment of handover of the bike. In this case, the renter will be refunded the full rental price.

Up to 1 hour before the end of the rental period, the parties can extend the rental agreement. The extension must be done in the same way as how a rental agreement is established. So the tenant must submit a new rental request and the owner must accept this extension.

Obligations under the rental agreement

MotoShare does not check whether a motorbike is safe. The owner and renter are therefore responsible for checking the motorbike for safety themselves. If a motorbike does not meet the safety requirements, the owner may not rent it out.

At the start, the owner should make a final check by checking the renter's driving licence and identity card or passport. If the driving licence number, category, name or date of birth do not match the details filled in on the rental agreement (part 1.), the owner may not hand over the motorbike.

During the rental period, the renter is responsible for fines or traffic violations. If the owner receives fines, the owner and renter will have to try to resolve the fine between themselves. In some cases, the owner can administratively shift the fines onto the renter. In these cases, as the owner, you will need the signed rental agreement for this to prove that the bike was rented out during the period. The owner can also ask MotoShare to act as an intermediary to resolve this situation.

If the renter does not return the motorbike on time, it will have to continue paying the owner the rental price per day and pay a fine of €15 per day to MotoShare.

Frequently asked questions

Is your question not here? Take a look at our FAQ or contact us. We will be happy to help.

If a renter wants to rent a motorbike, he places a rental request for this purpose. In this rental request, the renter lets the rental company know what he wants to rent the motorbike for and on what day and time he would like to pick up and return the motorbike.

When the owner accepts the rental request and the renter has paid the rental request, there is a rental agreement to rent the motorbike during the agreed period.

The rental agreement can be found in your personal dashboard and is visible on the Transfer Form.

The rental documents (Transfer Form, Green Card and Damage Form) become visible in your dashboard on MotoShare once the owner has accepted the rental request and you have confirmed the rental request through payment.

Prior to the rental period, the rental agreement and other rental documents are printed out or sent digitally by the rental company. So, as a renter, you do not have to do this yourself.

Only after the owner accepts the renter's rental request will the owner's contact details be visible.

So send a rental request for a motorbike to get in touch with its owner.

Yes, you do not need to print the rental documents. You and the renter can also sign the rental documents on a computer or with the Adobe Sign & Fill app on a phone. Read how this works here.

Yes, but only in an emergency. After you have paid the rental request, you and the owner have a rental agreement and the owner assumes that he will rent out the bike. Read more about the cancellation conditions of a rental agreement here.

Do you still want to cancel your rental agreement? You can do so via your account under ‘rental overview’ under the relevant rental.

If the renter cancels the rental agreement more than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, the renter will receive a voucher equal to the rental sum paid. The rental sum consists of the rental price minus the transaction fee.

If the renter cancels less than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, the renter will not receive a voucher and you as the owner will receive your entire rental income.

Should you, as an owner, cancel the rental agreement, the rental fee (excluding transaction fee) will be refunded to the renter's account number. Before cancelling a rental agreement, try to see if you can move the rental period to another day and/or time.

As a renter, you do not need to print out any rental documents. The Transfer Form, Green Card and Damage Form are printed or sent digitally by the rental company. Prior to the rental period, you go through the documents with the rental company.

Note! Take the Green Card and the Claims Form with you during the rental period. They contain all the information you need in case of breakdown and/or damage.

If you are going to rent out your motorbike, it is a good idea to go through the following things:

  • Is the condition of the motorbike in order and can it be rented out (see the rental agreement for the BRAVOK safety check)
  • Have you printed out or digitalised the hire documents
  • Transfer form, Green card and Damage form
  • Are you aware of the security requirement
  • Stick to the MotoShare game rules.
  • Make sure your bike is at least WA insured with your regular insurer during the rental period

Is this in order? Then go through the rental agreement and the BRAVOK safety check with the renter before the rental, so that the renter can hit the road safely!
