    History of Energica electric motorcycles

The Energica brand is pronounced with the emphasis on the second syllable, not the third. The motorcycle is made by the Italian Energica Motor Company, which was started in 2010 by the CRP group. This company is an important global player in the field of Formula 1 and aerospace components.

In 2010, the Energica Motor Company built its first fully electric racing motorcycle in just six months: the eCRP 1.2. This superbike completed its first test laps on the Assen circuit in the autumn of 2010. The use of innovative materials, a cast aluminium frame and a powerful dual air-cooled electric motor made the eCRP very suitable for racing in the TTXGP, the world's first series of electric motor sports races.

After two years of racing, the eCRP team began building the first street versions of the eCRP 1.2: the Energica Eva and the Energica Ego. The Ego was launched in 2014 and the Eva followed two years later. In 2015, Energica completed a fast-charging system for the Ego in Europe that can charge 80% of the battery in less than 20 minutes.

    Why ride an Energica?

Riding an electric motorcycle from Energica may not be completely mainstream yet, but it is a unique experience. Energica Eva or Ego has no gears, so acceleration is lightning fast. When riding an electric motorcycle, you mainly experience silence instead of a roaring motor or exhaust.

    Power of an Energica

Every motorcyclist knows the difference between a 500cc or a 1300cc motorcycle, for example. But electric motorcycles have no cylinder capacity. The power of an electric motorcycle is measured in kW or hp. 1 kW is equal to 1.36 hp. The Energica Ego superbike has a power output of more than 107 kW (or 145 hp). A petrol-driven motorcycle is already considered to have a high power output of 80 kW or more.

The torque determines, among other things, the acceleration of a motorcycle. Torque is the force exerted by the motor on the drive and is measured in Nm. The higher the torque, the faster the acceleration. The Ego sports bike has a torque of 200 Nm, which beats almost any combustion engine superbike.

The top speed of the Energica Eva is limited to a maximum of 200 km/h, while the Ego can reach up to 240 km/h.

    Battery capacity of Energica

The number of kilometres that can be travelled on a single charge depends on the driving style, weather conditions, road surface and the weight of the driver. Expect a range of between 130 and 180 kilometres.

    Most popular models

The Energica is beautifully designed. The large battery pack has been cleverly incorporated into the design by the Italian designers from Modena. Energica motorcycles are equipped with the best Lithium-Polymer batteries from Korea, an excellent electric motor from the United States, brakes from the Italian company Brembo and suspension from the Italian company Marzocchi. Riding an Energica is a unique experience. It is very fast and you quickly get used to the lack of combustion engine noises. The design of the Energica motorcycles is beautiful!

    Energica Ego

The Ego is Energica's racer. The motorcycle has cool double lights, a compact size and beautiful lines. When you turn on the motor (starting is not really the right word) and open the throttle, you hear a futuristic sound that – the faster you go – sounds higher and higher. Very cool! The different riding modes of the Ego ensure that you can enjoy optimal acceleration in every situation, which you can easily regulate.

    Energica Eva

The Eva weighs 280 kilograms, just like the Ego, but has 25 Nm less pulling power. The motorcycle has an excellent seating position and can even ride backwards by pressing the start button for 2 seconds and then calmly turning the acceleration lever.
