Frequently asked questions

What should I do in the event of a claim?

If the damage results in costs below the franchise of €1500, €1000 or €700: in this case, the parties must agree on the person responsible. They must give their resolution within 48 hours of the end of the rental contract. The deposit will be retained during this time to guarantee coverage of the claim. If the parties do not reach an agreement, they will be obliged to use MotoShare as a mediator.

If the damage results in costs exceeding the franchise of €1500, €1000 or €700: in this case, the owner must immediately inform MotoShare of the damage, within a maximum of 72 hours after the end of the rental agreement. MotoShare will then forward the report to the insurer.

In the event of a breakdown or damage making driving difficult, roadside assistance may be requested.

The owner's assistance service will be consulted first. If the owner does not have such a service under contract, MotoShare will request the service of "French roadside assistance".

Roadside assistance costs are not included in the price.

Suppose the breakdown requiring assistance is due to the poor condition of the motorcycle or an existing defect. The cost of the "French roadside assistance" services will be deducted from the owner's rental income.

If the renter is responsible for the breakdown during the rental period, the costs will be charged to the renter and deducted from the deposit.

Road assistance in the event of breakdown does not include the renter's transport service.

When renting through MotoShare, the renter and the owner mutually enter into a rental agreement. As a renter, you choose a motorbike and send a rental request to the owner. When the owner accepts your rental request, MotoShare sends you a payment request. After you have paid, you have a rental agreement with the owner.

During the entire rental period, the motorbike is fully insured with third-party, comprehensive and collision coverage under the MotoShare policy.

Don't forget to leave a review after the rental period. This allows subsequent renters to see how they liked the motorbike and their contact with the owner.

I already have an account on MotoShare

If you already have an account on MotoShare and your details have been approved by Combi Motors Verzekeringen (this will be confirmed by email), you can rent a motorbike within 2 hours.

Then we will apply a verification period of no more than 1 working day. So place a rental request in time for one of the motorbikes you would like to rent. Place a rental request for a total of 3 different motorbikes to increase the chance that you can rent in the short term.

Tip! Some rental companies have indicated that you can book the motorbike directly. This means that you do not have to wait for a response from the rental company and can be sure that you can rent the motorbike.

It is possible to rent a motorbike for someone else via MotoShare. This way you can rent a motorbike as a gift. However, it is important that you comply with the following points:

  • Create the account with the name and address details, date of birth and driver's licence number of the person for whom you want to rent the motorbike.
  • Send a rental request to the person renting out the motorbike and tell them that you are renting the motorbike for someone else.

Note: It is not possible to use your own account to rent a motorbike for someone else. The rental agreement must be in the name of the person who will actually be riding the motorbike.

If you rent a private motorbike, you are fully comprehensive (all-risk) insured under the Combi Motors Verzekeringen MotoShare policy during the rental period. If you rent a motorbike from a dealer, you are all-risk insured under the dealer's insurance during the rental period.

All motorbikes are subject to an excess of €1500 per claim. This amount can be reduced to €1000 or to €700.

If the renter cancels the rental agreement more than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, MotoShare will issue a voucher that can be used for a subsequent rental. The value of the voucher consists of the amount already paid minus the transaction costs.

If the lessor cancels the rental agreement, the rental sum (excluding transaction costs) will be refunded to the lessee's account number.

Please note! If you cancel less than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, you will not receive a voucher. The amount paid minus the administration costs and insurance will then be paid to the lessor.

You can cancel your rental agreement by selecting the agreement in your account under rental overview and then clicking cancel in the top right-hand corner.

As a renter, you have an excess of €1500 per claim. You can reduce this to €1000 or €700 per claim when booking a rental period. In the event of damage, the excess will be charged after the rental period.
