Motorbiking in the Netherlands
Motorcycling in the Netherlands is fun. The Netherlands has excellently maintained roads, there are good signposting and you will find plenty of places to take a break along the way. Perhaps the best thing about motorcycling in the Netherlands is the variety. You can ride along the coast of Zeeland in the morning and a few hours later be riding through the rolling landscape of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. End your day on the winding roads of the Frisian Lakes Region.
Great motorbike routes in the Netherlands
We have selected five routes for you that will take you on the best motorbike trips through the various Dutch provinces. Have fun and drive safely!
1. Motorcycling in Brabant
Brabant is one of the largest provinces in the Netherlands and ideal for exploring by motorbike. The friendly villages are connected by beautiful winding roads. A major advantage of Brabant is its abundance of green space. From the Biesbosch National Park to the Loonse and Drunense Duinen National Park, you will find no shortage of nature in North Brabant.
Motorcycle route Brabant: Peel route
The Peel is a largely excavated area of raised bogs on the border of the Dutch provinces of North Brabant and Limburg. This route introduces you to the east and southeast of the province of Brabant and part of northern Limburg. The start and finish of the route of just over 200 kilometres are in Eindhoven.

2. Motorcycling in Utrecht
Utrecht is so much more than just the city. The province is divided in two by a long row of hills: the Utrecht Ridge. You will be surprised by the landscape in this otherwise relatively flat province.
Motorcycle route Utrecht: Around Utrecht
This 130-km motorcycle route will give you a good look at the area around Utrecht. You start at AC restaurant De Meern near Utrecht and after a tour of Nieuwegein, Houten, Cothen, Leersum, Woudenberg, Soesterberg, Soest and Hilversum, among other places, your final destination is Breukelen.

3. Motorcycling in Groningen
There's no place like Groningen! That's the slogan the province uses to lure tourists. And they're absolutely right. Groningen is a wonderful province to discover by motorbike. Quiet roads, beautiful farms, lovely old villages.
Groningen motorbike route: Lauwersmeer
If you want to get to know the area around Lauwersmeer, north of the city of Groningen, this is the perfect route. The trip starts in Grijpskerk and over a distance of about 150 kilometres you will be guided along small back roads and past villages and hamlets around Lauwersmeer and along the Wadden coast.

4. Motorcycling in Gelderland
Gelderland is the most densely wooded province in the Netherlands. With the Hoge Veluwe National Park as its biggest attraction, Gelderland is the most popular province for domestic tourism in the Netherlands. But on your motorbike journey, also take a look at the historic cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen and take the most beautiful rides along the winding dykes in the Rivierenland.

The Achterhoek is one of the most beautiful regions of our country. Discover this green and peaceful region from Enschede on your motorcycle. The route, which is over 160 kilometres long, will introduce you to this beautiful part of the Netherlands.

5. Motorcycling in Flevoland
Flevoland, near Amsterdam, is the largest land reclamation project ever. And it has added a beautiful 12th province to the Netherlands. There are vast nature reserves such as the Oostvaardersplassen and Horsterwold, lovely beaches, charming cities with modern architecture, museums for young and old and the largest flower bulb region in the Netherlands!
Flevoland motorbike route: Across the floor of the Zuiderzee
This motorbike route takes you across the former seabed of the Zuiderzee. You start in Lelystad (30 km east of Almere) and go via Swifterbant over the Ketelbrug to Marknesse. Then on to Emmeloord and via Urk back through South Flevoland. You will return to Lelystad via Dronten. This route is also signposted by the ANWB.

Around the Biesbosch
Fancy a motorbike trip in the south of the Netherlands through a natural environment? The Biesbosch in the west of Brabant is a very water-rich nature and recreation area. The route of just over 100 kilometres makes a nice loop around this area. Enjoy beautiful dyke roads, old towns and quiet roads.

Around the Veluwe
The Veluwe is the largest actively managed nature reserve in the Netherlands. Around Apeldoorn there are more than 1000 km² of forests, dunes and heathland where red deer and wild boar are abundant. At its heart is the De Hooge Veluwe National Park. It is an area full of charming villages and quiet, winding roads. A wonderful destination for a motorbike ride.

Tour of West Friesland
West Friesland lies between Alkmaar and the IJsselmeer. A beautiful Dutch landscape with 17th-century towns, vast meadows, bulb fields, dyke and polder roads. The West Frisian circular dyke is unique. During this tour of West Friesland you will certainly regularly drive along parts of this beautiful dyke. Combine the route with a drive through the dunes along the coast from Egmond to Schoorl.
