The MotoShare policy in collaboration with Combi Motors Verzekeringen is a third-party, fully comprehensive (all-risk) insurance policy for the duration of the rental period that is separate from your regular motorcycle insurance.
As the owner, you do not need to take out additional insurance because MotoShare will take care of this during the rental period. However, it is important that your motorcycle is insured under third-party insurance by law.
Should damage or theft occur during the rental period, this will not affect your claim-free years with your regular insurer. This is covered by the MotoShare policy.
If you want to rent out your motorcycle via MotoShare, go to the page ‘rent out my motorcycle’ in the top right-hand corner to create an account and then register your motorcycle.
You do this by entering the registration number of your motorcycle. You can then add the type, rental price, description and photos of the motorcycle.
You can rent out almost any type of motorcycle through MotoShare. The only exclusions on the MotoShare policy are supersport motorcycles such as a Ducati Panigale, Honda Fireblade or a BMW S1000RR, (motor) scooters such as a Yamaha X-max or a Piaggio Beverly, or motorcycles with a sidecar.
MotoShare, our partners and the users work together to achieve this through:
Verification of all users:
- Combi Motors Verzekeringen checks the Fraud Information System Holland (FISH) for each registered user
- MotoShare checks the driving licence number of the renter and owner with the Dutch Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (RDW)
- MotoShare checks the licence plate of a motorcycle listed on MotoShare with the RDW
Before the rental period starts:
- The renter pays the rental price to PayAut in advance. The foundation only pays the owner, Combi Motors Verzekeringen and MotoShare after a successful rental period.
- The owner and renter go through the BRAVOK safety checks and the motorcycle's security requirements.
- Owners check the renter's driver's licence and driver's licence category as a physical double check on the previous MotoShare check.
During the rental period:
- With the MotoShare policy, the motorcycle is fully insured during the rental period.
After the rental period:
- Afterwards, the owner and renter should assess each other. This way, abuse will not be given a second chance.
We do not check the safety of the offered motorcycle. Therefore, the renter should check the safety of the motorcycle together with the owner before the rental period and go through the BRAVOK safety checks.
The collection location of your motorcycle is only visible to the renter once you have accepted the rental request. For all other users, the location of your motorcycle is not known, but the area where the motorcycle is located is visible.
It is possible for someone else to arrange the transfer of the motorcycle for you or to accept your rental requests. However, you remain responsible for the proper handling of the rental, whereby the Transfer Form is signed by the renter and owner at the start and return of the motorcycle at all times.
If this is not the case, there can be no claim on the insurance in the event of damage or a payout for additional kilometres driven and/or a traffic violation.

MotoShare offers dealers a user-friendly platform to rent out motorcycles to a wide audience of more than 1 million visitors per year. The process is fully automated, without fixed costs, and increases sales opportunities because 20% of the renters indicate in advance that they are renting a motorcycle with the intention of possibly purchasing it.
You can rent out your motorcycle through MotoShare using your own rental insurance. This is often already covered by your regular business insurance. Creating a business account is free of charge and you can easily register and manage your motorcycles.
