I already have an account on MotoShare
If you already have an account on MotoShare and your details have been approved by Combi Motors Verzekeringen (this will be confirmed by email), you can rent a motorbike within 2 hours.
I don't have an account on MotoShare yet
Then we will apply a verification period of no more than 1 working day. So place a rental request in time for one of the motorbikes you would like to rent. Place a rental request for a total of 3 different motorbikes to increase the chance that you can rent one at short notice.
Tip! Some rental companies have indicated that you can book the motorbike directly. This means that you do not have to wait for a response from the rental company and can be sure that you can rent the motorbike.
It is possible to change your driving licence number and category yourself if, for example, you have had your driving licence renewed.
You can change your driving licence via the driving experience page in your user account. First, delete the current driving licence in order to add a new one.

If you rent a private motorbike, you are insured during the rental period under the MotoShare policy of Combi Motors Verzekeringen. If you rent a motorbike from a dealer, you are insured during the rental period under the dealer's insurance.
All motorbikes are subject to an excess of €1500 per claim. This amount can be reduced to €1000 for a payment of €9.95 per day or to €700 for a payment of €22.95 per day.
As a renter, you have an excess of €1500 per claim, which you can reduce to €1000 or €700 per claim when booking a rental period. In the event of damage, the excess will be charged after the rental period.
The excess for a MotoShare rental is €1500 per damage event, but you can buy it off at €1000 for €9.95 per day or €700 for €22.95 per day.
In the event of damage and/or theft, the excess will be charged to the renter, who will then pay this amount to MotorConnect B.V., the entity behind MotoShare.
In the event of damage, the owner will receive the costs of the damage from the insurer, excluding the excess. MotoShare supplements this follow-up with the payment of the excess to the owner after it has been received by the renter.
The owner always has three working days to report damage and/or extra kilometres driven. Within these three days, the renter has the option to pay the extra costs via the platform.
Only the renter (as stated on the transfer form) may operate the owner's motorcycle. It is not permitted to let someone else ride the motorcycle. During the rental period, other drivers are not insured.
Please note: If damage occurs while someone other than the renter is riding the motorcycle, the renter will be responsible for the costs.
Would you like to give the gift of a motorcycle rental? Then click here.
If the renter cancels the rental agreement more than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, MotoShare will issue a voucher that can be used for a subsequent rental. The value of the voucher is equal to the amount already paid minus the transaction costs.
If the owner cancels the rental agreement, the rental sum (excluding transaction costs) will be refunded to the renter's account number.
Please note: If you cancel less than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, you will not receive a voucher. The amount paid minus the administration costs and insurance will then be paid to the owner.
You can cancel your rental agreement by selecting the agreement in your account under rental overview and then clicking cancel in the top right-hand corner.

Are you getting a message that your driver's licence number is already in use?

If you decide to rent a motorcycle, you only pay for the rental of the motorcycle.
All the motorcycles offered on MotoShare are checked with the Dutch national vehicle registration authority (RDW) to ensure they have not been stolen. Our insurance partner Combi Motors Verzekeringen also checks that all the motorcycles have third-party liability insurance.
After the owner has accepted the rental request, the exact pick-up location of the motorcycle will be visible (for privacy reasons). Until that moment, you will only be able to see the area where the motorcycle is located.
What if the motorcycle is not as close as you thought? Then contact the owner and see if you can change the pick-up time.
Every motorcycle on MotoShare has a security requirement. As a renter, it is important to know the security requirement of the motorcycle and to go over it with the owner prior to the rental.
The security requirement can be found in the motorcycle profile on the platform.

If you rent a private motorcycle, you are fully comprehensively and all-risk insured during the rental period under the Combi Motors Verzekeringen MotoShare policy. If you rent a motorcycle from a dealer, you are all-risk insured during the rental period under the dealer's insurance.
All motorcycles are subject to an excess of €1500 per claim. This amount can be reduced to €1000 for a payment of €9.95 per day or to €700 for a payment of €22.95 per day.
If you want to know exactly how you are insured, take a look here or read our extensive blog about how you are insured during the rental period.
The motorcycle is insured in all EU member states during the rental period. In addition, the coverage also applies in Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Iceland and the United Kingdom.
During the rental period, the motorcycle is fully comprehensive (all-risk) insured. This means that in addition to third-party liability coverage, you are also insured for damage to the rented motorcycle caused by, for example, a collision, vandalism or theft. The maximum compensation for motorcycle damage is €25,000 per event.
In addition, the insurance is only valid during the agreed rental period according to the Transfer Form.
The MotoShare insurance never covers damage caused by:
Note: If the renter is guilty of one of the above, the costs of the damage will be recovered from the renter.
In addition, the insurance is only valid within the agreed rental period of the rental agreement and as stated on the transfer form.
The motorcycle clothing and helmet are insured up to €750 per person per event. It does not matter whether you borrow the helmet and clothing or if they are your own.
Only the renter (as stated on the transfer form) may operate the owner's motorcycle. It is not permitted to let someone else ride the motorcycle. During the rental period, other drivers are not insured.
Please note: if damage occurs while someone other than the renter is riding the motorcycle, the renter will be liable for the costs.

As a renter, you have an excess of €1500 per claim, which you can reduce to €1000 or €700 per claim when booking a rental period. In the event of damage, the excess will be charged after the rental period.
If the damage amounts to less than the chosen excess, the remaining amount will be returned.
Every motorcycle you rent through MotoShare is fully comprehensive (all-risk) insured during the rental period. In the event of damage, the costs are calculated by a claims adjuster and then covered by our insurance partner Combi Motors Verzekeringen. The renter's deductible is paid at the end of the rental period. This can be done via iDEAL or Bancontact.
If the damage is less than the chosen excess, then you can settle the damage with the owner. If this is not possible, the damage will be settled via the insurer and we will charge €40 in administration costs.
When you rent a motorcycle, you have a standard excess of €1500. You can reduce this to €1000 or €700.
Where? After you have chosen an available date and time, we ask if you would like to send a message to the owner. At this step in the rental process, you can also choose whether you want an excess of €1500, €1000 or €700.
Have you already sent a rental request and forgotten to reduce the excess? Then cancel the rental request and send a new rental request with an adjusted excess.
First check whether you rented the motorcycle from a private individual or through one of the motorcycle shops on MotoShare.
Did you rent from a private individual?
Consult the Green Card if damage has occurred during the rental period. By using our selection menu on +31 20 36 99 863 you will be put in touch with Combi Motors Verzekeringen who can help you with acute damage or an accident via the Bovemij Alarm Service.
Is there damage to the motorcycle upon return? Then send photos of the damage, the fully completed Transfer Form and the European Accident Report Form to Combi Motors Verzekeringen via schade@quakel.nl. MotoShare will then collect the chosen excess from you.
Is the damage less than the chosen excess? Settle the damage with the owner. If this is not possible, the damage will be settled via the insurer and we will charge €40 in administration costs.
Did you rent from a motorcycle shop?
Did you rent a motorcycle from MotoShare through one of the motorcycle shops and has damage or a breakdown occurred? Then contact the motorcycle shop where you rented for roadside assistance and damage settlement.
Read below what to do in case of a breakdown of the rented motorcycle. First, check whether you have rented the motorcycle from a private individual or through one of the motorcycle companies on MotoShare.
Did you rent from a private individual?
If you experience a breakdown during the rental period, such as a flat battery or a flat tyre, you can contact ANWB Pechhulp on demand via the emergency centre on +31 088 269 2888. The notification should be made by the renter of the motorcycle.
Note: Breakdown assistance is not included for the renter and the costs incurred will have to be paid directly by the renter. Did you, as the renter, insure roadside assistance with your rental? In that case, you can claim the costs incurred for roadside assistance from MotoShare by sending the repair invoice, including a description of the repairs and defects, the licence plate number and the number of the rental agreement to info@motoshare.nl.
It is also important to inform the owner as soon as possible if you, the renter, experience problems with the rented motorcycle.
Did you rent from a motorcycle shop?
Did you rent a motorcycle from MotoShare through one of the motorcycle shops and did you experience problems? Then contact the motorcycle shop where you rented the motorcycle for roadside assistance.
No, as with most motorcycle insurance policies, passengers are not included in the insurance. However, personal injury to the other party is included in the insurance.
See all the conditions of the MotoShare policy from Combi Motors Verzekeringen on the Policy & Conditions page.
Are you looking for the specific safety requirements of a motorcycle you would like to rent? These can be found in the motorcycle profile under the heading: insurance clause.
I already have an account on MotoShare
If you already have an account on MotoShare and your details have been approved by Combi Motors Verzekeringen (this will be confirmed by email), you can rent a motorcycle within 2 hours.

Then we will apply a verification period of no more than 1 working day. So place a rental request in time for one of the motorcycles you would like to rent. Place a rental request for a total of 3 different motorcycles to increase the chance that you can rent in the short term.
Tip! Some owners have indicated that you can book the motorcycle directly. This means that you do not have to wait for a response from the owner and can be sure that you can rent the motorcycle.
On MotoShare, owners keep a calendar that shows when the motorcycle is available for rent. Owners also indicate the possible pick-up and return times and the minimum rental period.
This way, renters can see when it is possible to rent the
motorcycle and can place a rental request for that period.
Tip! Some owners have indicated that you can book the motorcycle directly. This means that you do not have to wait for a response from the owner and can be certain that you can rent the motorcycle.
MotoShare has an ever-growing selection of motorcycles available. You can rent almost any type of motorcycle through us.
The only exceptions are SuperSport motorcycles, (motor) scooters and motorcycles that you are allowed to ride with a car driving licence. These are not covered under the MotoShare policy of Combi Motors Verzekeringen.
It is possible to rent a motorcycle for someone else via MotoShare. This way you can rent a motorcycle as a gift. However, it is important that you comply with the following points:
Note: It is not possible to use your own account to rent a motorcycle for someone else. The rental agreement must be in the name of the person who will actually be riding the motorcycle.
If a renter wants to rent a motorcycle, he places a rental request. In this rental request, the renter lets the owner know why he wants to rent the motorcycle and on what day and time he would like to pick up and return the motorcycle.
When the owner accepts the rental request and the renter has paid for the rental, a rental agreement is formed for the rental of the motorcycle during the agreed period.
The rental agreement can be found in your personal dashboard and is visible on the Handover Form.
When sending a rental request, it is best to book periods of 24 hours. At MotoShare, a rental day is always 24 hours. You can coordinate the exact pick-up and return time with the owner if it differs from 24 hours.
Also make sure that your account is complete with your driving experience and a profile photo. This will give the owner more confidence and increase your chance that your rental request will be accepted.
Tip! Some owners have indicated that you can book the motorcycle directly. This means that you do not have to wait for a response from the owner and can be sure that you can rent the motorcycle.
Owners want to know who they are renting their motorcycle to. So as a renter, it is important to optimise your profile on MotoShare with:
A complete profile ensures more acceptance by owners and makes it possible to rent your favourite motorcycle.
Tip! Some owners have indicated that you can book the motorcycle directly. This means that you do not have to wait for a response from the owner and can be sure that you can rent the motorcycle.
MotoShare, our partners and the users do this together by:
Verification of all users:
Before the start of the rental:
During the rental period:
After the rental period:
Note: We do not check the safety of the motorcycle offered. The renter should therefore check the safety of the motorcycle together with the owner before the rental period and go through the BRAVOK safety checks listed on the handover form.
To give you a good indication of which motorcycles you are most likely to rent, we include the acceptance score and response time of the owner in the motorcycle profile.
The acceptance score shows how often the owner accepts, and the response time shows how quickly they respond.
Tip: If you want to be sure you can rent a motorcycle, send a rental request to an owner with a high acceptance score and a low response time. This is visible below the photo of the motorcycle in the profile.
When renting through MotoShare, the renter and the owner enter into a rental agreement. As the renter, you choose a motorcycle and send a rental request to the owner. When the owner accepts your rental request, MotoShare sends you a payment request. After you have paid, you will have a rental agreement with the owner.
During the entire rental period, the motorcycle is fully insured with the MotoShare policy.
Don't forget to leave a review after the rental period. This allows subsequent renters to see how they liked the motorcycle and their contact with the owner.
MotoShare offers an online platform on which private owners can rent out their motorcycle. MotoShare supports both the renter and the owner and ensures that the rental agreement is easy and fully insured. In addition, MotoShare is available to both the renter and the owner should there be any questions or problems.
The prices of the motorcycles on MotoShare include insurance costs. The rental price is made up of the owner's fee, which is increased by 15% for administration costs. 21% VAT is charged on MotoShare costs.
The only additional costs are the transaction costs per booking.
If you use your rental credit or a gift voucher with a value that exceeds the rental amount, you can continue to use the code you receive for the remainder.
It is not possible to use multiple discount codes when renting through MotoShare. So check carefully to see which discount expires first and use it first. You are always welcome to rent a second time.
If you have a discount code, enter the unique code when you make a rental request or on the page where you pay for an accepted rental request.
If you incur costs after the rental period via MotoShare due to additional kilometres driven, damage (excess) or a traffic violation, you must pay these within 7 days.
If this does not happen, we will charge administration costs together with a statutory increase of at least €40. The outstanding amount will then be submitted to our collection agency BVCM.
The rental price of the motorcycle includes a minimum of 100 free kilometres per day. If you drive more than the average number of free kilometres during the rental period, you will be charged an additional price per extra kilometre driven at the end of the rental period. The exact cost per extra kilometre is determined by the owner and can be found on the motorbike profile. You can pay the costs afterwards via iDEAL or BanContact.
If you already know in advance that you plan to drive more than the number of free kilometres, please mention this in the rental request to the owner so that the owner can give his permission.
If you do not agree to the extra kilometres driven, please contact us at info@motoshare.nl.
The renter pays the full rental price to Mollie via iDEAL, Bancontact or credit card for the rental period.
This amount must be paid by the renter within 36 hours after the rental request has been accepted by the owner. Only then is the rental request definitively confirmed.
Please note! If payment is not made within 36 hours, the rental request will be cancelled and the rental cannot take place.
The excess and the reimbursement for additional kilometres driven, if applicable, will be paid after the rental period.
MotoShare accepts payments via iDEAL, Bancontact or credit card. The renter pays the costs for extra kilometres driven or the deductible to Mollie after the rental period using one of the various payment methods.
You pay the rental fee to Mollie in advance. Mollie keeps the payment. After the rental period, the payment is facilitated by payment provider PayAut, which complies with the (European) PSD2 payment regulations.
If there are no emergencies, our payment provider PayAut will transfer the rental income to the owner, Combi Motors Verzekeringen and MotoShare.
When you rent a motorcycle from MotoShare, you do not pay a deposit. However, we do apply an excess of €1500 per damage event. You can reduce this to €1000 for €9.95 per day or reduce it to €700 for €22.95 per day when placing a rental request. The excess will be charged in the event of damage and/or theft.
In the event of damage and/or theft, this amount must be paid after the end of the rental period. If the damage is less than or equal to the excess paid, you pay the owner directly. If the damage is more than or equal to the excess, you pay the chosen excess to MotorConnect B.V.
MotorConnect B.V. is the entity behind MotoShare and then pays the excess to the owner when the insurer has paid out for the damage.
The excess for a MotoShare rental is €1500 per damage event, but you can buy it off at €1000 for €9.95 per day or €700 for €22.95 per day.
In the event of damage and/or theft, this amount must be paid after the end of the rental period. If the damage is less than or equal to the excess, you pay this directly to the owner. If the damage is more than or equal to the excess, you pay the chosen excess to MotorConnect B.V.
MotorConnect B.V. is the entity behind MotoShare and then pays the excess to the owner when the insurer has paid out for the damage.
The owner always has three working days to report damage and/or extra kilometres driven. Within these three days, the renter has the option to pay the extra costs via the platform.
The owner's contact details will only be visible once the owner has accepted your rental request.
So send a rental request for a motorcycle to get in touch with the owner.
The rental documents (transfer form, green card and accident report form) will appear in your dashboard on MotoShare once the owner has accepted the rental request and you have confirmed the rental request by making the payment.
Prior to the rental period, the rental agreement and other rental documents will be printed out or sent digitally by the owner. As a renter, you do not need to do this yourself.
Renters do not need to print out any rental documents. The Transfer Form, Green Card and Claim Form will be printed out or sent digitally by the owner. Review the documents with the owner prior to the rental period.
Please note! You must bring the Green Card and the Claim Form with you during the rental period. This is because it contains the necessary information in case of breakdown and/or damage.
Make sure you pick up the motorcycle on the agreed pick-up date and time. The rental documents will be printed out or digitally sent by the owner for the rental period.
It is also important that you adhere to the MotoShare Rules.
When you pick up the motorcycle, you will go through the rental documents with the owner and do the BRAVOK safety checks on the motorcycle. This ensures that you can depart safely.
Security requirements apply to each motorcycle and can be found in the motorcycle profile. The security requirements depend on the type of motorcycle and the catalogue value. You are only insured against theft if you have complied with the security requirements for the motorcycle.
Both the owner and the renter have obligations when it comes to securing the motorcycle:
The owner must provide the motorcycle fully refuelled. As the renter, you must return the motorcycle fully refuelled.
The rental price includes at least 100 free kilometres per. If you want to ride more kilometres, you must indicate this in the rental request to the owner. The owner determines the price per extra kilometre ridden, which you pay afterwards.
After the rental period has ended, you and the owner will go over the kilometres driven. The owner will report the number of kilometres to MotoShare. If applicable, we will charge the renter for the extra kilometres driven.
You can pay these costs afterwards via iDEAL, Bancontact or credit card to Mollie.
If you have sent a rental request, you can change the day and/or time until the owner has accepted the rental request. Log in to the website and go to ‘Rental overview’. Click on the rental request for which you want to change the period and press ‘adjust period’.
If the owner has already accepted the rental request you wish to change, you can only change the period by cancelling the rental request and sending a new rental request with the adjusted date and/or times.
If the new period differs less than 2 hours from the agreed rental period, do not change anything online but inform the owner via the chat.
If you have already paid, you can only change the period by cancelling the rental agreement. Our cancellation conditions will then apply.
It is possible to extend your rental period if the owner agrees. You can then place a new rental request via MotoShare. The rental should then start on the day of the original end date.
Once your rental request has been accepted by the owner, you can pay the rent and the extension is arranged.
Yes, you can always cancel a rental request. We also advise renters to submit three different rental requests for a certain period, as it is possible that an owner will not accept a rental request.
You cannot simply cancel a rental agreement. Would you like more information about cancelling the rental agreement, see our cancellation policy.
Yes, but only in an emergency. Once you have paid the rental request, you will have a rental agreement with the owner, who will assume that he will be able to rent out the motorcycle. Read more about the cancellation policy of a rental agreement here.
Would you still like to cancel your rental agreement? You can do this via your account under ‘rental overview’ for the rental in question.
If the renter cancels the rental agreement more than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, MotoShare will issue a voucher that can be used for a subsequent rental. The value of the voucher is equal to the amount already paid minus the transaction costs.
If the owner cancels the rental agreement, the rental sum (excluding transaction costs) will be refunded to the renter's account.
Please note! If you cancel less than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, you will not receive a voucher. The amount paid minus the administration costs and insurance will then be paid to the owner.
You can cancel your rental agreement by selecting the agreement in your account under rental overview and then clicking cancel in the top right-hand corner.
As a renter, you are responsible for traffic offences committed during the rental period. If the owner receives a fine as a result of a traffic offence committed during the rental period, we advise the owner to first contact the renter directly and try to come to a mutual solution. If you come to an arrangement with the owner, this will save the owner administration costs (€25).
If the renter and the owner are unable to come to an agreement, MotoShare will step in, so that the owner is never the one who suffers and has to pay the fine him or herself.
MotoShare will then recover the fine from the renter. If it is not possible to recover this amount from the renter, MotoShare will submit the outstanding amount to a collection agency and the costs will be increased by the statutory collection costs.
To ensure that the MotoShare community remains safe and reliable, it is very important that renters and owners rate each other. You can do this at the end of the rental period via the rental overview in the online account.
A clear rating and review will help the next renter learn more about the motorcycle and the owner. This way you help strengthen the MotoShare community!
By giving a rating, you ensure that the next motorcycle enthusiast knows what to expect from the motorcycle rental.
You also help keep the community safe and reliable. There is no place on MotoShare for owners and motorcycles with a bad rating!
No, that is not possible. Have you made a mistake when writing a review or have you given the wrong number of stars? Let us know and we will change it for you.
Send an email to info@motoshare.nl and state which rental period it concerns, what needs to be changed and the corresponding number of stars.
You will receive a review after the rental period ends. In this review, the owner looks back on the rental period and the mutual contact so that other owners know what to expect in the future.
If you have received a review that you disagree with, please contact us at info@motoshare.nl.
On the website, we only show the area where the motorcycle is located. Visitors to our website will therefore not see the exact address where your motorcycle is located. You do fill in this information when registering the motorcycle.
However, the address only becomes visible to a renter after you as the owner have accepted the rental request and paid for it.
MotoShare and Combi Motors Verzekeringen check all users for:
In addition, the Dutch Vehicle Authority (RDW) checks the validity of the motorcycle licence plates. All of this contributes to a safe and reliable community within MotoShare!
The MotoShare insurance pays out up to a maximum of €25,000 in the event of damage and/or theft. However, if the theft is the result of theft by the renter (embezzlement), no payment will be made by the insurer or MotoShare.
This is why MotoShare, together with its insurance partner Combi Motorcycle Insurance, the RDW and other partners, ensures a proper online background check is carried out on each renter. This includes checking the validity of the driver's licence and a possible history of damage and/or fraud. Only once the renter's account has been verified can they rent via MotoShare. This way, as the owner, you know you can rent out your motorcycle safely.
Damage caused by a technical defect in the motorcycle that is not the renter's fault (or damage that occurs during the rental period) will not be paid for by the insurance or MotoShare. This could include, for example, a motor blockage if this can be attributed to a technical defect that was already present before the start of the rental period.
Please note! As the owner, you should go through the rental documents with the renter before the rental period starts. Failure to fill out the rental documents (completely) or giving the motorcycle to another renter can result in the non-payment of any damages. It is therefore important that you always check the identity and driver's licence of the renter before the rental period, to ensure that they match the identity as stated on the rental documents.
The MotoShare policy in collaboration with Combi Motors Verzekeringen is a third-party, fully comprehensive (all-risk) insurance policy for the duration of the rental period that is separate from your regular motorcycle insurance. As the owner, you do not need to take out additional insurance because MotoShare will take care of this during the rental period. However, it is important that your motorcycle has third-party insurance as required by law.
If damage or theft occurs during the rental period, this will not affect your claim-free years with your regular insurer. This is covered by the MotoShare policy.
To make your motorcycle more attractive to renters, you can make a number of changes to the motorcycle profile yourself:
Do you need help with the above changes? Then contact our customer service via info@motoshare.nl.
When renting out via MotoShare, the renter and the owner enter into a rental agreement. During the entire rental period, the motorcycle is fully comprehensive (all-risk) insured with the MotoShare policy from Combi Motors Verzekeringen. Because MotoShare checks every user, it is safe to rent out your motorcycle.
As the owner, you always decide to whom you rent your motorcycle and when. After you have accepted a rental request, you only need to print out the rental documents or sign them digitally. You should go through these with the renter prior to the rental.
After the rental period, it is important to give the renter a rating. This helps us keep the community safe and reliable.
Sometimes the driver's licence number does not match the number on the rental agreement. If this happens, please pay attention to the following points.
Does the renter want to change the driving licence? They can do so on this page.
MotoShare will pay the rental income and any compensation for additional kilometres to the owner no later than 14 days after the end of the rental period. Depending on your bank, it can take up to seven working days for the amount to appear in your bank account.
Yes! MotoShare is completely free to use. You can create an account and start renting out your motorcycle through MotoShare at no cost. A membership is not necessary and there are no fixed costs.
We only deduct a commission from the rental price paid by the renter if you actually rent out your motorcycle.
Very easy! At the top right of the website window, there is the option to ‘register’. Click here to register for free with MotoShare. Immediately after registration, you will receive an activation email. After you have activated your account, you can rent a motorcycle.
If you want to rent out your motorcycle via MotoShare, go to the page ‘rent out my motorcycle’ in the top right-hand corner. On this page you can create an account and then register your motorcycle.
You do this by entering the registration number of your motorcycle. You can then add the type, the rental price, a description and photos of the motorcycle.

When you register your motorcycle on MotoShare, the registration will be verified for theft. It is also important that your motorcycle has third-party insurance.
Within 24 hours, Combi Motors Verzekeringen will determine the insurance premium for your motorcycle and include it in the rental price. Once the insurance premium has been added, we will inform you by email and you can start renting out your motorcycle.
On the website, we only show the area where the motorcycle is located. Visitors to our website will therefore not see the exact address where your motorcycle is located. You do fill in this information when registering the motorcycle.
However, the address only becomes visible to a renter after you as the owner have accepted the rental request and paid for it.
If you do not live in the Netherlands, it is currently not yet possible to rent out a motorcycle. However, you can create an account so that you will be notified when it becomes possible to rent out a motorcycle from abroad.
When you rent out your motorcycle, it is important to give the registration certificate to the renter, as it is not officially permitted to ride without a registration certificate. You should, of course, keep the transfer certificate at home. This way, you can safely rent out your motorcycle.
Would you like more information about the regulations regarding the registration certificate? Then visit the website of the Dutch government.
If you have forgotten your password, you can request a new one via the platform. You can do this by requesting a new password via the login screen.

Very simple! Log in and go to ‘My motorcycles’. For the motorcycle you want to take offline, choose ‘availability’ from the quick selection menu.
You can now adjust the availability of the motorcycle in the motorcycle profile. Below the table with the pick-up and delivery times it says: ‘Motorcycle is: available’. If you click on this, you will be given the option to take the motorcycle offline.
Yes! MotoShare is completely free to use. You can create an account and start renting out your motorcycle through MotoShare at no cost. A membership is not necessary and there are no fixed costs.
We only deduct a commission from the rental price paid by the renter if you actually rent out your motorcycle.
The current market value of the motorcycle is the amount it is currently worth. This amount is equal to the amount it would cost to buy a similar motorcycle.
The current market value is based on a number of factors such as age, wear and tear and the mileage. The popularity of the motorcycle can also play a role in the valuation.
This means that determining the current market value is a customised process and is carried out by an insurance expert.
The current or market value of your motorcycle is the amount that the insurer will pay out in the event of theft or total loss. To find out the current value of your motorcycle, you can:
No, during the rental period your existing motorcycle insurance will be replaced by a temporary insurance policy from Combi Motors Verzekeringen. This protects your no-claim.
Every motorcycle on MotoShare has a security requirement. As the owner, it is important to know the security requirement of your motorcycle and to inform the renter of this prior to the rental. The security requirement can be found in your motorcycle profile on the website.
Please note! Only when the security requirement has been met is the motorcycle fully insured and any damage will be compensated.
An ART 4 approved lock is required for the security of your motorcycle. You can check the classification of your lock through the ART Foundation.
If your lock is not ART 4 classified, you do not meet the security requirement to rent out your motorcycle with WA Volledig Casco (All-risk) insurance.
If you no longer have the receipt for your lock and it is ART 4 approved, please send us a photo of the lock and both keys via info@motoshare.nl.
Yes, damage to ART locks and SCM security devices is reimbursed up to €500 per event.
Accessories such as a navigation system or tank bag are insured up to a maximum of €750. In addition, standard parts of the motorcycle that you have replaced (for example, a different exhaust, tank or handlebars) are also insured up to this amount.
For a more detailed description of the accessory coverage, please refer to the policy conditions.
The Third-Party, Full-Casco (All-risk) insurance covers the motorcycle for 2 hours before and after the rental period. The rental period is the day/time stated on the rental agreement.
Would you like to change the day/time when you pick up or return the motorcycle? If so, it is important to check whether the change involves more than 2 hours.
If the change involves more than 2 hours outside the rental period, please contact us. Renting out a motorcycle for more than 2 hours outside the rental period is not insured under the MotoShare policy.
The security requirement for your motorcycle under the MotoShare policy is as follows:
During the rental period of the motorcycle, it must be parked between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. in a securely locked area, out of sight from the public road. The motorcycle must be locked in the locked area with an ART-approved lock class 4 or higher.
If it is not possible to park the motorcycle in a securely locked area, the motorcycle must be secured by means of an ART-approved class 4 or higher chain or U-lock. It must be properly attached directly to an ART category 4 or 5 approved wall anchor or ground anchor, or to a sufficiently strong and suitable object that is firmly fixed to the ground.
An enclosed space is defined as: A space that is properly locked and accessible only to the renter and their family members. In the event of damage, it must be possible to demonstrate that the space was actually locked.
General car parks and car parks with multiple key holders, such as apartment complex car parks, are not considered locked spaces as described in these conditions.
If the security requirements described above are not met, there is no right to compensation.
See Stichting ART for information on approved locks.
As the owner, you must be able to demonstrate that this security was present. You can do this with the keys and the purchase receipt or a photo of the lock together with the keys.
Want to know more about the all-risk insurance? Then take a look at the MotoShare policy.
This way, as the owner, you know you can rent out your motorcycle safely
Failure to fill out the rental documents (completely) or giving the motorcycle to another renter can result in a denial of payment for any damage. It is therefore important that you always check the identity and driver's licence of the renter before the rental period, to ensure that they match the identity as stated on the rental documents.
First check whether you rented the motorcycle as a private individual or as a motorcycle business via MotoShare.
Private owner
If damage has occurred, we ask for an indication of the damage costs, issued by a motorcycle business. If the damage is less than the renter's deductible (€1500, €1000 or €700), we ask that the damage be settled between the parties first. If this is not possible, Combi Motors can still process the damage, but the owner will be charged a €40 processing fee.
Is the damage higher than the renter's deductible? Always report the damage within three working days after the end of the rental period using this digital damage form. We will then collect the deductible from the renter.
Has a criminal offence taken place, such as theft, joyriding, burglary or vandalism? Or has your motorcycle been hit by an unknown perpetrator? Then report this immediately to the local police.
Please note! If you report the damage after three working days, you will be liable for the excess.
Business owners
Try to resolve the damage with the renter by collecting the excess directly from the desk. If this does not work or the renter has reduced the excess (and you are still owed a portion by MotoShare), please contact us at info@motoshare.nl.
If a breakdown occurs during the rental period, such as a flat battery or a flat tyre, the renter can contact ANWB Pechhulp on demand via the Emergency Centre on +31 088 269 2888. The intention is that the notification is made by the renter of the motorcycle.
Note! Roadside assistance is always included for the owner. Roadside assistance is not included for the renter and the renter will have to pay the costs incurred directly. Did you, as the renter, insure roadside assistance with your rental?
In that case, you can claim the costs incurred for roadside assistance from MotoShare by sending the repair invoice, including a description of the repairs and defects, the licence plate number and the number of the rental agreement to schade@quakel.nl.
It is also important to inform the owner as soon as possible if you, as the renter, experience problems with the motorcycle.
Damage to your motorcycle is insured based on the current market value and is determined by a claims adjuster and your own motorcycle garage.
You will then receive a maximum of €25,000 in compensation for your motorcycle if it is damaged while being rented out via MotoShare.
If you suspect that your motorcycle has been stolen, it is important to report it to the police immediately and to register the motorcycle with the Insurance Against Vehicle Crime Office on +31 55 741 00 01.
Once you have done this, you can report the theft to us along with proof of the police report. MotoShare will report the theft to Combi Motors Verzekeringen, who will take care of the rest.
In cooperation with Combi Motorcycle Insurance, we do everything we can to resolve damage as best we can!
However, it is important to review the policy conditions under point 6.2 to know what is and is not insured. In addition, Combi Motorcycle Insurance has a maximum payout of €25,000 in the event of damage or theft. Theft by the renter (embezzlement) is also not covered if you have not met the conditions as the owner (!). Please read the policy conditions on page 2 under point 6.2.
MotoShare, our partners and the users work together to achieve this through:
Verification of all users:
Before the start of the rental:
During the rental:
After the rental period:
We do not check the safety of the motorcycle offered. Therefore, before the rental period, the renter should check the safety of the motorcycle together with the owner and go through the BRAVOK safety checks.
MotoShare offers an online platform where private owners can rent out their motorcycles. MotoShare supports both the renter and the owner and ensures that the rental is easy and WA Fully Comprehensive (All-risk) insured.
In addition, MotoShare is available to both the renter and the owner should there be any questions or problems.
You can rent out almost any type of motorcycle through MotoShare. The only exclusions on the MotoShare policy are supersport motorcycles such as a Ducati Panigale, Honda Fireblade or a BMW S1000RR, (motor)scooters such as a Yamaha X-max or a Piaggio Beverly, or motorcycles with a sidecar.
Unfortunately, supersport motorcycles, (motor)scooters, quads and supermotards cannot be rented out through MotoShare, as our insurance partner does not offer third-party, fully comprehensive (all-risk) insurance for these.
However, you can register your motorcycle with MotoShare. We will keep you informed as soon as renting out your motorcycle is possible.
Our insurance partner Combi Motors Verzekeringen determines whether the motorcycle falls under the SuperSport or Super Motard category based on power, seating position and type of motorcycle.
Would you like to try riding a different kind of motorcycle? You can also easily rent one of the many motorcycles on MotoShare with your online account.
The collection location of your motorcycle is only visible to the renter once you have accepted the rental request. For all other users, the location of your motorcycle is not known, but the area where the motorcycle is located is visible.
As the owner, you always decide for yourself who you rent your motorcycle to and when. After you have accepted a rental request, all you have to do is print out the rental documents or sign them digitally. You should go through these with the renter prior to the rental.
After the rental period, it is important to give the renter a review. This helps us to keep the community safe and reliable.
The rental price you can ask for your motorcycle depends on many factors such as age, mileage and popularity. As a starting point, you will find a complete overview here with rental prices
Please note! The rental price you determine includes a minimum of 100 free kilometres per day. If the renter drives more kilometres, you will receive extra income per kilometre driven. You can set this income yourself in your motorbike profile.
To make your motorcycle more attractive to renters, you can make a number of changes to the motorcycle profile yourself:
Do you need help with the above changes? Then contact our customer service via info@motoshare.nl.
To rent out your motorcycle more often without effort, we recommend activating the ‘accept automatically’ option under settings in your motorcycle profile.
This means you no longer have to respond to every rental request yourself, but the renter can book your motorcycle directly. Activating this option makes your motorcycle profile more attractive to renters and increases your position on the site, which means you will rent out more often without it costing you much time.
Tip! Make sure that the availability of your motorcycle is updated. This way you can prevent a rental request from being accepted for a day or time when the motorcycle is not available.
In order to give renters a good indication of which motorcycle they can rent (in the short term), we include your acceptance score and response time in the motorcycle profile.
The acceptance score is the percentage of rental requests that you accept. The response time is the average time within which you respond with a message to the renter.
Tip: Do you want to make your motor profile more attractive and rent out more often? Then ensure you have a high acceptance score by accepting often and a lower response time by responding quickly or activating direct booking via the settings of your motor profile.

You can edit your motorcycle profile and adjust its availability via the ‘my motorcycle’ page in your account.
Here you can choose from various options as to why your motorcycle is (temporarily) unavailable.
If a renter wants to rent a motorcycle, he or she will submit a rental request. In this rental request, the renter informs the owner what he or she wants to rent the motorcycle for and on what day and time he or she wants to pick up and return the motorcycle.
When the owner accepts the rental request and the renter has paid for the rental, a rental agreement is formed for the rental of the motorcycle during the agreed period.
The rental agreement is visible in the personal dashboard of the renter and owner.
Yes, if you receive a rental request you have 24 hours to accept or refuse it.
The renter's profile is transparent, with a lot of information about the renter's riding experience or previous reviews the renter has received from owners. You can take this into account when deciding whether to accept or decline the rental request.
If you do wish to decline the rental request, you can do so via your online account and it is polite to inform the renter via a message.
It is possible for someone else to arrange the transfer of the motorcycle for you or to accept your rental requests. However, you remain responsible for the proper handling of the rental, whereby the Transfer Form is signed by the renter and owner at the start and return of the motorcycle at all times.
If this is not the case, there can be no claim on the insurance in the event of damage or a payout for additional kilometres driven and/or a traffic violation.
You can find the following information in the renter's profile:
The renter's age, profile photo and possibly a link to his/her Facebook account
How many years the renter has had a motorcycle licence and what type
How many kilometres he/she drives annually (indication)
We make this information transparent so that you can decide whether or not you feel comfortable with a renter. Is the information not sufficient? Then you can also ask additional questions by message or telephone before you accept.
Renters with an A1, A2 or full A licence can rent a motorcycle through MotoShare. When you register your motorcycle on MotoShare, the licence category is determined based on Dutch law. This takes into account the number of cc and the power of the engine.
When determining the driving licence category, we look at the original power. Has your motorcycle been tuned and reduced from a maximum of 70kW to 35kW or less? Please let us know via info@motoshare.nl so that you can also rent out your motorcycle to renters with an A1 or A2 driving licence.
The owner should offer the renter a full tank of petrol and make sure that the renter returns the motorcycle with a full tank.
As the owner of a motorcycle, you do not have to pay VAT or income tax on your income if you occasionally rent out your motorcycle. This is because the total annual costs of your motorcycle (including depreciation, maintenance, cleaning, etc.) are generally higher than the income from renting it out.
Read what the tax authorities have to say about renting out your bike in the sharing economy
Please note: MotoShare is not a tax consultancy. No rights can be derived from our advice. If you want to know for sure, consult your own tax adviser or the tax authorities.
Yes, that is possible. However, a rental day at MotoShare is 24 hours, so the rental price for a number of hours is not lower. The number of hours is also rounded up. A rental period of, for example, 30 hours is therefore equal to 2 full rental days.
If you receive a rental request for a day and/or time when rental is not possible, you can send the renter an alternative day/time via the platform.
The renter can then change the day/time. Be careful not to accept a rental request with a day/time when rental is not possible, as this cannot be changed free of charge. Read more about the cancellation conditions of a rental agreement here.
Has something gone wrong and does the pick-up/return time differ by more than 2 hours from the day/time in the rental agreement? Then please contact us.
If your motorcycle is no longer available (e.g. due to sale or maintenance), it is important to communicate this to the renter and MotoShare as soon as possible.
If you do not have an alternative motorcycle, we will cancel the rental agreement and the renter will receive a refund.
Do you have an alternative motorcycle? Then make sure it is registered on MotoShare. We will cancel the original rental agreement so that the renter can rent the alternative motorcycle by means of a new rental request.
The renter can always extend the rental period if you agree. The renter can then place a new rental request via the site and pay for it once you have accepted the request. The rental period should then start after the original rental period.
Once you have accepted a renter's rental request and the renter has paid, the rental documents will be generated. You can then find the documents directly in the rental request in your online account.
It is important to print out the rental agreement, the accident report form and the green card and go over them with the renter.
You then give the renter the accident report form and the green card prior to the rental.
Yes, you do not have to print the rental documents. You and the renter can also sign the rental documents on a computer or with the Adobe Sign & Fill app on a phone.
When you are going to rent out your motorcycle, it is important to print out the Handover Form, the Green Card and the European Damage Form. You can find these documents in your online account under the page: ‘rental overview’
Before the rental period, you will go through the Transfer Form together with the renter. You will give the Green Card and the European Damage Form to the renter.
If you are going to rent out your motorcycle, it is a good idea to go over the following points:
Is this in order? Then go through the rental agreement and the BRAVOK safety check with the renter prior to the rental, so that the renter can safely take to the road!
When you rent out your motorcycle, it is important to give the registration card of the motorcycle. According to the law, it is mandatory to be able to show the registration certificate when you are driving.
In addition, it is important to compare the renter's driver's licence number and category with the information on the Transfer Form.
Sometimes the driver's licence number does not match the number on the rental agreement. If this happens, please pay attention to the following points.
Does the renter want to change the driver's licence? They can do so on this page.
Yes, you can always cancel a rental request. However, do leave a message for the renter explaining why the rental cannot take place.
As the owner, you can cancel a rental agreement if:
You can cancel the rental agreement via your account under ‘my rental overview’ for the rental in question.
If the renter cancels the rental agreement more than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, the renter will receive a voucher equal to the rental sum paid. The rental sum consists of the rental price minus the transaction costs.
If the renter cancels less than 72 hours before the start of the rental period, the renter will not receive a voucher and you, as the owner, will receive your full rental income.
If you, as the owner, cancel the rental agreement, the rent (excluding transaction costs) will be refunded to the renter's account. Before cancelling a rental agreement, try to see if you can move the rental period to another day and/or time.
The renter is of course responsible for traffic violations during the rental period. If the owner receives a fine as a result of a traffic violation during the rental period, we recommend that you first contact the renter directly and come to a mutual solution. This will save you administration costs (€25).
If the renter and the owner cannot come to an agreement, MotoShare will step in so that the owner never has to pay the fine him or herself. In that case, please contact us at info@motoshare.nl.
MotoShare will collect the fine from the renter by direct debit. If it is not possible to debit this amount from the renter's account, MotoShare will reimburse the full costs to the owner.
If the renter was driving more than 30 km/h over the speed limit, the fine is not covered by the Mulder Act. In that case, the fine can be passed on to the renter via the rental agreement.
By default, a renter can drive 100 km per day for the rental amount you set. If a renter expects to drive more than 100 kilometres per day (or the free kilometres you have set), the renter must indicate this in the rental request.
If you agree to the renter driving more than 100 kilometres per day (or the number of free kilometres per day set by you), you will charge the renter the extra costs per kilometre.
Would you like to know how the extra kilometres driven are calculated? Then look here.
If the renter has driven more than 100 kilometres per day (or the free number of kilometres per day set by you), you can indicate this via your online account. The costs per extra kilometre driven will then be charged to the renter and the part for the owner will be paid by us.
What if the renter has driven more kilometres without declaring this and you are not satisfied with this? Please let the renter know in the review and contact us at info@motoshare.nl.
If a renter has driven more than 100 kilometres per day (or the number of free kilometres per day set by you), you must report this to MotoShare within 3 days of the rental period. We will then charge the renter for the additional costs incurred and pay you as the owner.
How do you report the kilometres? After the rental period, we will send you an email asking you to rate the renter and report the kilometres driven. Log in to the website and go to the rental agreement. After the rental period, report the extra kilometres driven under review.
Owners do not have an excess. The excess of €700, €1000 or €1500 is paid by the renter in the event of damage.
If the cost of the damage is less than the excess chosen by the renter (€1500, €1000 or €700), we ask that the renter settle the damage with the owner. If this is not possible, Combi Motors Verzekeringen can still process the damage and charge the owner €40 in processing costs.
Please note! Only if you, as the owner, do not meet the conditions for renting out your motorcycle (for example, due to poor maintenance) will the damage be at the owner's expense.
The renter pays the full rental price to Mollie for the rental period. This amount is transferred to the owner no later than 14 working days after the end of the rental period. The rental income is paid out by PayAut, which is the company on whose transactions you can rely on your bank statements.
Please note! If you have not yet received your rental income, check your account under ‘my profile’ to see if you have added your account number. We will then process the payment on the next working day.
If the renter has driven more than 100 kilometres per day (or the number of free kilometres per day set by you), you will receive the mileage allowance at the same time as the rental income.
During the motorbike season, MotoShare works with discount codes for renters. This discount is deducted from the MotoShare administration costs of 15% on the owner's fee. The discounts MotoShare offers therefore have no consequences for the rental income of the owner.
MotoShare will pay the rental income and any compensation for additional kilometres to the owner no later than 14 days after the end of the rental period.
Payments are facilitated by PayAut. This is the company that you can find the transactions on your bank statement. Depending on your bank, it can take up to seven working days for the amount to appear in your bank account.
Yes, this is certainly possible and also very important for the safety and reliability of the MotoShare community! At the end of the rental period, you can write a review of the renter via the rental request in your online account.
This ensures that other owners also know what to expect when they rent out their motorcycle.
To ensure that the MotoShare community remains safe and reliable, it is very important that renters and owners rate each other. You can do this at the end of the rental period via the rental overview in the online account.
With a clear rating & review about the renter, the next owner will know what to expect when he or she rents the motorcycle to this renter. This is how you help strengthen the community!
By leaving a rating, you ensure that the next owner knows what to expect when they rent out the motorcycle.
You also help keep the community safe and reliable because there is no place on MotoShare for renters with a bad rating.
No, that is not possible. Have you made a mistake when writing a review or have you given the wrong number of stars? Let us know and we will edit it for you.
Send an email to info@motoshare.nl and state which rental period it concerns, what needs to be changed and the corresponding number of stars.
You will receive a review after the rental period has ended. In this review, the renter looks back on the rental period and the mutual contact, so that other renters know what to expect in the future.
If you have received a review that you disagree with, please contact us at info@motoshare.nl.
